Two Truths
Thanks for helping test this. It should take about a minute a day.
What it is
Every day you write one true thing about yourself and one convincing
lie. Your friends try to spot which is which, and you try to spot
theirs. There's a streak for playing daily and a weekly leaderboard.
1. Install it
Get the Android app
Open that on your phone, not your computer. It shows an
Install button and a QR code — tap Install to download the app file, then open
it to install.
Android will warn you — twice, on some phones. Because this
isn't from the Play Store yet, Android treats it as an unknown app. Both
warnings are expected for a test build.
1. "Unknown source" / "unsafe"
Tap More details → Install anyway, or allow installs from your
browser when prompted.
2. Play Protect blocks it ("app was blocked", or the install
silently fails). This one has stopped people, so if it happens:
- Open the Play Store app
- Tap your profile picture (top right) → Play Protect
- Tap the gear icon → turn off Scan apps with Play Protect
- Install Two Truths, then turn Play Protect back on
Turning it back on afterwards is worth doing — it's a genuine safety feature,
and it only objects here because the app isn't on the Play Store yet.
iPhone isn't available yet — Apple's developer approval is still pending.
2. Sign in
Either works:
- Sign in with Google — one tap, nothing to remember
- Email — we send you a short code. There's no password, and
no separate sign-up step; entering your email creates your account.
3. Add each other as friends
The game only gets interesting with people in it. On the Friends
tab, invite someone by typing their email address. The invitation appears for
them as soon as they sign in with that address — so you can invite people
before they've even installed it.
Tell Paul which email address you signed up with and he'll add you.
4. Play for a few days
A single session isn't much of a test. What's genuinely useful is opening it
for a few days in a row, because that's how the streak, reminders and daily
rhythm actually get exercised.
What to look out for
- Anything that crashes, hangs, or looks broken
- Anything confusing — if you weren't sure what to do, that's a bug in the design, not in you
- Turn on the daily reminder (Stats tab) and check it arrives
at the time you picked.
- Notifications when a friend plays. Brand new in this build
and never tested by anyone — so if you get one, please say so, and if you
never do, that's worth knowing too.
- Whether you'd actually keep playing. Honestly. That's the most useful thing you can tell us.
Nothing in this app charges you anything. You'll see an
"Unlock" button and a "$2.99" price on the Two Truths+ panels — those are
placeholders for a feature that doesn't exist yet. They are not connected to
any payment system, and tapping them does nothing but flip a switch on your
own device. There is no way to be charged, and no payment details are ever
requested.
Please be blunt. "I didn't get it" and "I forgot about it after a day" are far
more useful than "looks good" — nothing gets fixed by politeness.

A few honest notes
- This is an early build. Expect rough edges.
- Your data may be wiped between test builds. Don't write anything you'd be sad to lose.
- The "Unlock" / "$2.99" buttons do nothing — placeholder UI, no payments exist.
- You can delete your account and everything in it at any time: Stats → Delete account.
Version history
Newest first. The download button above always points at the latest build —
uninstall the old version before installing a new one.
Build 6 · 24 Aug
- Friends' pairs no longer vanish at midnight — each stays guessable until that friend posts a new one, labelled with when it was written
- "Friends · N to guess" shows how many pairs are waiting
- Fixed friends/invites sometimes disappearing when reopening the app without force-closing
- Pull down to refresh on the Play and Friends tabs
- "Share the app…" button on the Friends tab — send it to anyone by text, email or chat
- Server side: friend notifications unblocked (was a database permissions fault)
Build 5 · 23 Aug
- Friend requests show the sender's real name instead of "Someone"
- "Which one is the lie?" is now a big, obvious question on the guess screen
- Bigger animated TRUE/LIE reveal, held longer so it can actually be read
- Withdraw invites you've sent; duplicate and self-invites blocked
- Bottom menu labels no longer clipped
Build 4 · 23 Aug
- Everyone gets a real display name instead of "New Player", editable in Stats
- Practice mode shows your score ("You spotted 3 of 4") instead of a confusing 0%

- Push notification groundwork (FCM) — friend notifications made possible
- Home-screen streak widget fixed (was rendering blank) and adapts to size
